When to enroll with EVUS if my passport has expired?

Before or after receiving a new passport?

The most important thing to keep in mind when you are applying for the EVUS is that you should have a valid passport of at least 6 months from the day of arrival to the United States. If your passport has expired or is approaching its expiration date we advise you not to apply to the EVUS until you receive the new passport.

If you had previously applied for and EVUS and your passport is no longer valid it is required that you apply for a new EVUS Visa update before entering the United States.

Although the application process usually does not take longer than 20 minutes it is highly recommended you enroll with the EVUS online system at least 72-hours before your planned trip. Remember that if you don’t have an EVUS you will be denied entry to the country.

Renewing your EVUS is fairly simple as long as you have the proper requirements up to date. At the moment, the EVUS system is only for B1, B2 or B1/B2 visa holders; other Visa classes are not expected to enroll with the EVUS.
